Oregon Is Secretly A Desert State

Most picture rain, mountains and forests
4

Lush forests, towering mountains, and endless amount of rain. These are all things most people think of about Oregon. But what if I said that the majority of Oregon was actually a dry, arid desert? In fact, Oregon is home to a large part of the Great Basin desert, the driest, largest desert in America. So does this make the eastern side of the Oregon the real Oregon?

In this episode, Geoff and Alexa hit the road from their home in Portland to show off the state's drier, emptier, and less known eastern side. They'll travel first to Smith Rock to show off the amazing rock formations before heading even further south to the famous Steens Mountains and Alvord Desert, one of the driest parts of the country.

Welcome to the side of Oregon that few people will ever visit.
